Palamós market

The Palamós market dates back to a royal charter of 1279. Every Tuesday morning, the Avinguda de Catalunya comes alive with more than a hundred stalls: fresh produce, clothing, textiles, footwear — the bay’s great weekly gathering.

Close by, the harbour holds a treasure: the fish auction (the llotja), every afternoon as the boats return, where the local star is auctioned — the red gamba of Palamós. You can attend through guided tours run by the Fishing Museum, then buy the day’s catch at the covered market.

Good to know: 8 min by car. The open-air market is Tuesday morning; the auction, in the late afternoon (visit by reservation). The covered market is open several mornings a week.
