Can Mario (Fundació Vila Casas), in Palafrugell, is a contemporary sculpture museum set in a former cork-stopper factory from the early 20th century. More than 200 sculptures by Catalan artists, from the 1960s to today, converse with the industrial architecture.
Beside it stands the site’s emblem: the tall brick Modernista water tower on the Plaça de Can Mario. Industrial heritage plus contemporary art together make it the most photogenic cultural site in town.
Good to know: 20 min away by car. On the same square as the Cork Museum — you can easily do both back to back.
