The Dalí Theatre-Museum

1 h en voiture · Figueres

In Figueres, the Dalí Theatre-Museum is the artist’s absolute masterpiece: a museum he imagined and staged himself on the ruins of the old theatre — the largest surrealist object in the world. Dalí is buried here, in a crypt beneath the stage.

Inside you’ll find the famous glass geodesic dome, the Mae West room (a giant face that resolves through a lens), the Rainy Cadillac, and the red exterior bristling with white eggs and golden loaves — the most photographed façade in town. Admission includes the Dalí·Joies jewellery collection.

Good to know: about 1 hr away by car (Figueres). Ticket ~€18.50; closed Mondays outside summer. Very busy: book a time slot online. It’s one of the three points of the “Dalí triangle”, along with Portlligat (Cadaqués) and Gala’s castle in Púbol.
